Shakespeare Road is a full refurb including contemporary wrap around ground floor extension and mansard loft extension in Poets’ Corner, Herne Hill, designed by Darren Oldfield Architects.
The wrap around extension includes a 9m uninterrupted overhead glazing to the side addition, which culminates in a timber framed cantilevered Oriel window to the rear elevation. Elements of an existing box frame were retained, with intricate steelwork detailing required to connect existing beams to a new exposed feature column.
The original London valley roof was stripped off and replaced with a duo pitched mansard extension to create an additional floor.
