Llewelyn’s is an independent neighbourhood restaurant in South London designed by HH+ Architects. Led by Henry Harker, HH+ are interested in the process of architecture and the role that the discipline has in creating better buildings to live and work in.

The site, which had housed another restaurant for over thirty years, had been severely neglected, as was made evident by the plants growing through the roof and the many cracks in the walls. Our work focused on putting the building back together to create a solid foundation for this new venue. Crack stitching restored the walls, the floors were restrengthened, a new roof was fitted and the whole building, which also houses a residential unit, brought up to date to meet modern building regulations.

The result is a sensitive and subtle intervention that has allowed the creation of a stylish yet simple neighbourhood restaurant that is already hugely popular with the locals.
