We’ve been working on a site in the heart of Farringdon with DSP Architecture, whose work focuses on context and creating coherent spatial relationships between buildings and their surrounding fabric.
St John Street involves the refurbishment of an existing office building, with the addition of two new floors.
The site is located on an area of archaeological interest and so any subterranean/foundation works would have been prohibitively expensive and potentially risked damaging ancient artefacts. This has required a creative solution with the design of transfer frames at both ground and first floors which are supported by existing load bearing elements installed during the remodelling in the 80’s and thus mitigating the requirements of new foundations.
The site is currently live and due for completion in early 2018. For a time-lapse of the works, visit our facebook page.
