Salary: £36,000 per annum
**A new role at our business for someone looking to lead a department **
We are seeking a full-time software engineer to help the Managing Partner develop new automations and systems at the company. The work will be centred around streamlining our technical staff who specialise in designing the structures of residential projects.
Other titles for this role: DevOps Engineer, Full Stack Developer or Coding Engineer.
The salary builds quickly for the right person who can achieve the goals set. This job will be a rewarding experience for someone logical, and business-minded.
You will be responsible for creating automations and developing our systems under the direction of both technical and non-technical staff. The challenge of the job will come from understanding real-world problems and translating them into efficient code and process flows using the Microsoft Power Platform and the Office 365 Business package, including SharePoint. Our infrastructure also needs to be set up so that the more advanced storage of information and coding can be implemented.
The role also includes helping to maintain our existing hardware and software, mainly using Microsoft Intune.
The role will evolve quickly as you become more experienced and knowledgeable in our systems. The following will always remain at the core of the role:
- Investigate new technologies and their suitability to us.
- Create technical specifications which can be understood by non-technical people.
- Develop existing systems by analysing and identifying areas for modification
- Write and test code, refining and rewriting, rollout and storing.
- Maintain systems by monitoring and correcting software defects.
- Continually update your technical knowledge and skills.
You will be working in an office environment and so good communication skills are key as you will collaborate frequently with many members of staff.
A typical day
9 am – 11 am: Review the performance of a part of the IT infrastructure, tweak existing code based on feedback from users and error logs.
11 am – 12 pm: Have a meeting with the Operations Manager to discuss the development of the next software rollout. Write out a project plan with key responsibilities, deadlines and resource needs.
12 pm – 1 pm: Prepare designs for software coding using flow diagrams and researching alternative options.
2 pm – 4 pm: Write code for projects you are working on.
4 pm – 5 pm: Testing and rolling out new pieces of code ensuring feedback loops are present.
5 pm – 5.30 pm: Housekeeping, liaising with the engineers and other team members.
You must have a degree in Software Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum 2:1 classification.
You need to be able to demonstrate good quality previous experience in a role similar in nature. The experience must include:
- Having contributed to developing the IT infrastructure of a company.
- Created a piece of software that was successfully rolled out in the company.
- Worked with non-IT specialists to improve company processes.
You must have full eligibility to work in the UK.
